It is often the case that we are asked to make a part that we know very little about. It could be that the technical drawings may have been lost. Or perhaps the aim is to learn more about how a competitor product might work.
Through deduction and reasoning, and often by deconstructing individual components, our team have brought very many parts to life.
Reverse engineering could benefit your project
Where you don’t have a 2D drawing or 3D model to hand, our expert team will deploy their reverse engineering skills. We might laser scan an existing artefact which we then CNC machine to your required size. Or we might go back a step and hand carve a model to laser scan. You can be assured our experts will apply the most appropriate and cost-effective engineering methods.
Sometimes we reverse engineer for commercial companies. At other times, we’re approached by individuals who may have been working on a restoration project for a number of years. Helping them bring a part back to life and make an engine or machine whole again, brings our team huge satisfaction and personal reward.
Some of our latest reverse engineering projects…
Laser scan and scale model of a circa 1900 Testaphone trumpet motor horn
Our starting point was to scan an old trumpet, first manufactured at the start of the last century, and built our model from there.
Cylinder heads and covers, including for a 1904 Fiat and a Bentley
We were tasked with reverse engineering the existing parts, designing the pattern equipment, and sourcing the castings to complete the projects.
