The very first stage of the design process, concept design allows you to visualise your product.
We believe 3D modelling should sit alongside traditional technical drawings, not fully replace them. 3D modelling brings the advantages of speed and efficiency, but it does not give insight into centrelines and diameters in the same way as a 2D technical drawing. Wherever possible, we will want to see the technical drawings. It may well take longer but it gives us – and you – the certainty that we have as much information as possible to build a highly accurate and functioning model.
Our team will take the time to fully understand the design intent, calling upon their time-served technical skills and technological know-how to match a solution to your requirements.
Using 3D modelling to enhance the design process
A 3D model presents the perfect opportunity to visualise a part during the design process. Our investment in the latest CAD softwares means we can check and revise a design from each and every angle before embarking on production of a pattern, tool or model. It saves time and money, and gives our customers oversight of the design process at every stage.
Our CAD operators are highly skilled technicians. Their 3D pattern and toolmaking modelling expertise comes from a wealth of experience and time spent on the factory floor, learning from every project they undertake, and sharing best practice with their colleagues.
They will take a view on whether 3D modelling alone is the right approach for your project, or whether there is benefit in seeing technical drawings at the concept design stage. It is this attention to detail that is a key foundation of our success.
Some of our concept design and 3D modelling projects…
The projects we’ve undertaken demonstrate how versatile our design and 3D approach is.
- Racing wheelchair boxes allowing Paralympians to transport their equipment and luggage more easily.
- Bespoke encapsulation collars to aid the repair of water leaks.
